For many people, getting to the eye camp is a real happiness: Some wait for many years for such a generosity, wait for having a chance for removing cataract and restoring their sight again. Munira Khatun,75, who came to our Naongoan camp held in August 2017 spoke from her heart and said, “It’s a good chance for us to get here, because we have to wait for years for such a free eye camp.”
Our goal is to reach out, primarily, to such a deprived people across the country. Until today, we could cover 46 places in 39 districts of Bangladesh. In the present month we are going to implement two large free eye camp in this country. The first one will be in Lalmonirhat where at least 500 free cataract operation will take place. It is estimated that more than 5000 patients will inflow to the camp for availing free treatment. All of them will be screened and patients with cataract will be selected for free operation. While the others will be given glasses, eye drops and medicine as their requirements. All operations will be done by our experienced surgeons.
The Director General of Al-Basar International Foundation, Bangladesh Chapter, Dr. Ahmed Almanbary will be present at the inaugural ceremony of the camp to be held on Friday 13, October 2017 morning.
A highly qualified team consisting of ophthalmologists, optometrist, technicians, nurses, officials and volunteer will attend the camp early in the morning and a necessary number will continue to do their job for a week.
