On Friday, January 10, 2020, the medical team of Al-Basar International Foundation concluded a large Charity Eye Camp in Joypurhat, Bangladesh. The camp lasted for a week after having witnessed its marvelous launch on January 03, 2020.
The activities of the camp commenced early in the morning of Friday, January 02, 2020, in the square of “NDC Fatima Zaman Nursing College” where many government officials of the region honored the camp by their fruitful and enthusiastic presence.
The camp witnessed a hectic
activity throughout the week, the first day of which was devoted to accomplish
the eye screening, choosing the cataract-patients, distributing medicines and eye
glasses to those who are in need to them. Necessary checkups for the selected
patients have also been completed in order for having a clear glimpse on the fitness
for undergoing the eye operation.
The remaining days of the week observed
conducting operations, removing pads from the operated eyes, and providing
advices to the outgoing patients.
The results of the camp were as
Total Screening: 4300 (1986 male – 2314 female)
Total Operation: 514 (250 males-264 females).
Eye Glasses: 2001
Medicine: 7358 units.
In addition, the organization also
provided adequate accommodation and foods to all operation-patients along with providing
transportation to and from the Kalai Upazila Health Complex in the region where
the operations were performed.
As for the first follow up to
know the state of the eyes in which the operation was performed, it was done on
January 10, 2020 while the second follow up took place on February 14, 2020.
