The education and training of local medical and technical cadres is one of the main goals of the Al-Basar International Foundation. This was to elevate the standard of living for these work-groups, as well as being an attempt to contribute to fill the shortage of human resources in this area. To achieve this goal in Bangladesh all arrangements are taken to launch an ophthalmic technical institute in Uttara, Dhaka. However, the foundation is already training teachers under the School Eye Health Program so that they could primarily  recognize the students with low vision or other eye defects. So far, more than 471 (male-298; female-173) teachers have been trained from the different schools in Dhaka city and the surrounding areas.
