Al Basar International Foundation- a Non-Profit Organization runs several eye hospitals in Bangladesh including Al Noor Eye Hospital, Lalmatia which was founded in 1993. It was followed by Makkah Eye Hospital, Uttara (2009), Makkah Eye Hospital, Rajshahi (2011) and Makkah Eye Hospital, Tangail (2014). Several other hospitals are in planning or development stage.
Al Basar Foundation also provides eye healthcare services through Al-Basar Caravans (Free Eye Camps).
In total, 159 healthcare professionals along with administrative and support staff work at these facilities across the country and every day around 1400 patients now visit these hospitals. All of these facilities have in-patient beds. Each center has trained clinical staffs: Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Opticians, Medical officers, Nurses, Pharmacists/Medical Technicians, Counselors/ Service promoters.
Comprehensive eye care services are provided with modern equipment and diagnostic tools. Clinical and laboratory tests are also conducted for eye disease identification and prevention. Patients are then consulted by experienced ophthalmologists. Cataract, refractive error, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma and conjunctivitis are regularly treated at these hospitals.
Patients of all ages are welcome for their eye care at any of these facilities run by Al Basar International Foundation in Bangladesh.
